Period poverty is real and still prevalent in Zimbabwe, especially in the poor marginalized communities. As a result, the health of many women and girls is heavily compromised. According to the study by SNV Zimbabwe, 72% of menstruating schoolgirls do not use sanitary products simply because they can not afford them.
P.H.F.T as an organization with girls have heart, have come up with a program called “Pad-her-Up”. This program aims at providing training to adolescent girls on how to make reusable pads and educating the girl child about Menstrual Hygiene. The program also extends to disposable and reusable pads donations in schools and communities.
